McRoberts to return to Duke for sophomore season
Freshman Josh McRoberts plans to return to Duke University for his sophomore season in 2006-07, the school announced Wednesday on its athletic department Web site.
McRoberts had been mentioned as a potential high draft pick for the upcoming NBA draft. McRoberts had until Saturday to make his decision.
McRoberts, a member of the ACC All-Freshman team last year, averaged 8.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game while helping Duke to a 32-4 record.
"I am very excited about my decision to return to Duke to continue my academic and athletic career," McRoberts was quoted on the site.
"I am looking forward to working with the coaching staff to further develop my skills as a player," McRoberts said. "The relationships that I have in place here played a major role in my decision. I am anxious to see my bond with Coach K, the rest of the staff and my teammates grow even stronger."
Duke won the ACC regular season and tournament championship for the ninth time in school history in 2006.
