Cavs to hold scrimmage at Kent State
Cleveland Cavaliers: LeBron James will be playing close to his Akron home this preseason.
The Cavaliers scheduled a scrimmage at Kent State's MAC Center on Oct. 11. The workout is open to the public and will feature the entire team playing two 12-minute halves.
James is spending this week in New York for the NBA's rookie orientation program, which is designed to help first-year players adjust to pro ball.
James was among 20 rookies, along with Hall of Famer Bob Lanier, who spent time Monday reading to children at a New York City public school.
The Cavaliers open training camp next week and play their first preseason game Oct. 7 at Detroit.
