PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard Willie Green will miss six to eight weeks after having thumb surgery on Friday.
Green was injured in practice on Wednesday. He averaged 8.5 minutes and 1.9 points in 15 games. He will wear a cast for about three weeks and then start rehab, team physician Dr. Jack McPhilemy said.
The injury-depleted Sixers already are without center Marc Jackson (finger) and forward Glenn Robinson (ankle). Also, center Todd MacCulloch and forward Monty Williams probably won't play again because of debilitating injuries.
Originally drafted by Seattle in the second round in June, Green was acquired by the Sixers for the draft rights to Paccelis Morlende and cash.
