The 6-11, 250-pound Archibald has spent most of the season on
the injured list with a sprained toe and has appeared in only
one game, collecting one point, one rebound and an assist.
Archibald was acquired on September 30 in a six-player deal with
the Memphis Grizzlies. The 23-year-old Archibald was selected
by Memphis in the second round of the 2002 draft and had 19
points and 17 boards in 12 games as a rookie.
On Tuesday, the Suns acquired forward Donnell Harvey from the
Magic for a second-round pick in the 2004 draft. Phoenix placed
Achibald on the injured list with the flu to make room on the
roster for Harvey.
To make room for Archibald, Orlando waived small forward Monty Williams, who is expected to retire from the NBA because of a serious knee injury.
Also, according to the Orlando Sentinel, the Magic have been awarded with a $1.4 million exception for forward Pat Garrity, who likely will miss the rest of the season after knee surgery. The club can use the exception to sign a player or include in a trade.
Garrity underwent surgery on his right knee on Dec. 1.
