Wade will miss entire road trip
MIAMI -- Miami Heat rookie Dwyane Wade will miss a six-game road trip and could be sidelined until February because of a bruised right wrist.
Wade, placed on the injured list Jan. 2, was examined Thursday and fitted with a new cast. His status will be re-evaluated before the Heat's next home game Jan. 20, and he could return just over a week later.
"You're probably not going to take the cast off one day on your shooting hand and play the next day," coach Stan Van Gundy said. "Obviously, it's a lengthy period of time."
Wade understands he needs to make sure the injury heals properly.
"I don't want to be coming in and out of the lineup," he said. "When I come back, I want to be back."
Wade has been one of the NBA's top rookies, averaging 16.2 points and 4.4 assists.
