Nets activate Storey

11/13/2004

New Jersey Nets: Two days before he is scheduled to undergo left knee surgery, guard Ron Mercer was placed on the injured list.

Mercer, who had been suffering from swelling in the knee, is
slated to undergo surgery Monday and is expected to be sidelined
for up to a month.

Signed to a two-year, $3.3 million deal in the offseason, Mercer
averaged 9.3 points in his first three games.

In New Jersey, the 6-7 Mercer was expected to fill the roster
spot vacated by guard Kerry Kittles, who was traded to the Clippers in a cost-cutting move.

To replace Mercer on the roster, the Nets activated forward
Awvee Storey from the injured list. Storey had been on the
injured list since Nov. 1 with a sprained ankle.

New Orleans Hornets: The club placed forward
Rodney Rogers on the injured list because of a strained left knee and
activated guard Junior Harrington before its game against
the Milwaukee Bucks.

Rogers was injured in practice Wednesday and didn't play Friday
against Atlanta. He averaged 4.8 points and 2.3 rebounds in 19.3
minutes during the Hornets' first four games.

Harrington began the season on the injured list because of back
spasms. He averaged 7.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in six preseason
games.
