Haywood injured the thumb while trying to block a shot in the fourth quarter of Friday night's 98-94 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Wizards president of basketball operations Ernie Grunfeld said Saturday that Haywood will consult with a hand specialist Monday.

Washington already is coping without some of its top players, including Juan Dixon (ankle), Jarvis Hayes (knee) and Antawn Jamison (knee). Gilbert Arenas has been nursing a sore knee but has been playing anyway. The Wizards (37-30) are trying to clinch their first playoff berth since 1997.
