Vaughn fractures bone in foot

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Jacque Vaughn of the New Jersey Nets broke a bone in his right foot early in the first quarter Saturday night against the Orlando Magic.

The visiting Magic prevailed 103-102 over the Nets.

The seven-year veteran, who has started 34 games at shooting
guard, was experiencing pain in his foot before the game but
decided to play. He ran off the court after fracturing the fifth
metatarsal 2 minutes into the first quarter and was replaced by
Travis Best. The Nets said there was no timetable for his return.

Vaughn was averaging 5.3 points and 1.9 assists for the New
Jersey, which began the night in ninth place in the Eastern
Conference, a half-game behind Philadelphia and a half-game ahead
of Orlando.

The Magic were without Grant Hill, whose left shin contusion
flared up during Friday night's loss at Washington. He was replaced
in the starting lineup by Stacey Augmon.
