Sonics pick up Ridnour, Collison options

10/6/2005 - NBA

Seattle SuperSonics: The SuperSonics on Thursday picked up
options on guard Luke Ridnour and forward Nick Collison for the
2006-07 season.

Financial terms of the options were not released.

Both played in all 82 games last season, but it was the first
full season for Collison, who missed 2003-04 after undergoing
surgery on both shoulders. Collison averaged 5.4 points and 4.6
rebounds last season as a reserve.

Ridnour started every game at point guard for the SuperSonics in
his second season and averaged 10.0 points and 5.9 assists. In the
playoffs, Ridnour averaged 9.7 points and Collison 8.4.

They were lottery picks in the 2003 draft -- Collison was taken
12th out of Kansas, while Ridnour was selected 14th from Oregon.

Golden State Warriors: Warriors forwards Troy Murphy
and rookie Chris Taft sat out practice Thursday with injuries.

Murphy sprained his right ankle in practice Wednesday and Taft
suffered a strained right groin Tuesday.

Taft, Golden State's second-round draft pick, spent Thursday on
an exercise bicycle watching his teammates, while Murphy stretched.
The 6-foot-10 Taft averaged 13.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.7
blocks per game and left Pittsburgh after his sophomore year.

Murphy averaged 15.4 points and 10.8 rebounds for the Warriors
last season.

Golden State is holding training camp at Brigham Young
University Hawaii before playing two preseason games against the
Los Angeles Lakers next week in Honolulu.
