Jazz suspend Ostertag for Mavs game Saturday
Ostertag, who was suspended without pay Thursday when he didn't show up for practice, is expected to rejoin the team Sunday for practice, and will be eligible to play against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.
Sloan and Ostertag have had many clashes during their 10 years together with the Jazz.
"These things were going to happen. Greg and I know that. That's just who we are. And we just go about our business," Sloan said at practice Friday.
The length of the suspension, Ostertag's fourth since 2001, was decided after a Friday morning meeting between Ostertag, Sloan and Kevin O'Connor, the team's senior vice president of basketball operations.
"We've been down this road before. I think it's a matter of trying to put it behind us and not have a distraction for our game on Saturday," O'Connor said.
Ostertag did not show up for practice Thursday morning, a day after playing less than 10 minutes the night before in a 113-94 loss to the Seattle SuperSonics. He met with Sloan and O'Connor on Friday, but did not practice.
