LONDON -- Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng has been granted a
British passport and hopes to play for Britain's national team at
the 2012 London Olympics.

Deng was born in Sudan but lived in London for six years before
moving to the United States to play basketball. He played at Duke
before joining the Bulls.

"Although I've been playing in the U.S. for a number of years,
London will always be my home," Deng told the BBC. "It's the city
I grew up in and where my family lives today."

Britain has had little success in international basketball, but
national coach Chris Finch said the 6-foot-9 Deng will bring a big
lift to the team.

Deng will be eligible to play for Britain in next summer's
European championship qualifying games.
