Rockets waive goodbye to F Bowen and G Jacobsen

HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets waived forward Ryan Bowen and
guard Casey Jacobsen on Friday, reducing their roster to 15

The 6-foot-9 Bowen averaged 1.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in two
seasons with Houston. He drew praise from Coach Jeff Van Gundy for
his work ethic but missed the preseason after hip surgery.

The 6-6 Jacobsen, signed by the Rockets as a free agent in
September, averaged 1.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in
four preseason games. The former Stanford star averaged 16 points,
4.2 rebounds and two assists in five summer league games.

Also Friday, the Rockets exercised options on guards Luther Head
and Kirk Snyder, extending their contracts through the 2007-08

The 6-3 Head averaged 8.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists
in 80 games as a rookie last season. Drafted by the Rockets in
2005, Head led NBA rookies last season with 113 3-pointers.

The Rockets consider the 6-6 Snyder one of their key offseason
pickups. He averaged eight points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per
game last season with the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. He
shot a career-high 45.3 percent from the field, including 36
percent (46-of-129) from 3-point range.

Houston acquired Snyder in July from the Hornets in exchange for
cash and future draft considerations.
