One player suspended, another hospitalized after fight

A 7-foot-2 center for the Dakota Wizards of the NBDL is recovering from a concussion and a teammate has been suspended after a fight between the two during practice earlier this week.

Dakota Wizards forward Awvee Storey was suspended indefinitely and replaced on the roster after reportedly punching Martynas Andriuskevicius at practice Thursday.

According to media reports, Storey, who stands 6-6, hit Andriuskevicius, a Chicago Bulls prospect, in the head during an altercation.

Andriuskevicius' agent, Herb Rudoy, told the Chicago Sun-Times that the center, who remains hospitalized, has a skull fracture, a severe concussion and a small bruise on the left side of his brain.

"From what I'm told, when he got hit unexpectedly, he went out cold instantly and fell right back on his head," Rudoy told the Sun-Times.

Andriuskevicius "is doing well and recovering without any unexpected events," John Paxson, the Bulls' executive vice president of basketball operations, said in a statement.

Paxson said Andriuskevicius will return to Chicago as soon as he is given medical clearance to travel.

Wizards spokesman Mike Offerdahl said the club would have no comment on Storey's suspension until the D-League investigation is finished. The NBA and the NBDL are investigating the incident.

"I wouldn't think that would be anytime soon," Offerdahl said.

Bismark Police Lt. Dan Donlin told The Bismark Tribune that a criminal investigation is not underway because Andriuskevicius didn't wish to file a complaint.
