LeBron rests sore knee; Pierce takes night off

BOSTON -- LeBron James was inactive of Cleveland's lineup and
Paul Pierce was inactive for Boston in the teams' game Sunday
night.

James, who scored 39 points in the Cavaliers' victory Saturday
over Chicago, was diagnosed with right knee tendinitis, according
to an injury report distributed at halftime. Team spokeswoman
Amanda Mercado said James just needed rest.

"It's just general soreness," she said before the game.
"Nothing's wrong. He's just resting."

James was scheduled to travel to Minnesota with the team and be
re-evaluated Monday.

Pierce played 52 minutes, 51 seconds in the Celtics' game
Wednesday against Orlando, then missed their game Friday against
Philadelphia with a sore left elbow and other ailments. He worked
out on the court Sunday afternoon and was available for the game,
but coach Doc Rivers said he would not play.

"This is not going to be a Willis Reed moment tonight," Rivers
said. "I can guarantee that."

Both players watched the game from the bench in street clothes.
