HOUSTON -- Charlie Ward has been an assistant coach for the
Houston Rockets, and he won the Heisman Trophy as a quarterback for
Florida State. Now he'll try his hand as an assistant high school
Ward, who won the Heisman in 1993, has been hired by Westbury
Christian High School in Houston as an assistant coach for the
varsity boys basketball team.
"My goal is to become a head coach somewhere," Ward said
Thursday. "This is a very good stepping stone for me."
Ward played 11 years in the NBA -- 10 years with the New York
Knicks and one year with the Houston Rockets -- before becoming an
