ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Hawks suspended backup center Zaza Pachulia for Wednesday's game at Denver for conduct detrimental to the team.

General manager Billy Knight announced the suspension Tuesday, but the team did not describe the nature of his transgression. Pachulia, however, had a run-in with coach Mike Woodson during Monday's 111-109 overtime loss to Portland at Philips Arena.

Pachulia objected as he was substituted in and out of the game for matchup purposes. At one point, he waved his arms at Woodson, and after a brief exchange during a timeout Woodson sent Pachulia to the locker room with under 10 minutes to play.

The 6-foot-11, 280-pound Pachulia has averaged 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in 19 games this season, including five starts.

The suspension only applies to Wednesday's game against the Nuggets, and Pachulia will be available when the Hawks play at Seattle on Friday in the second game of a five-game western road trip, the Hawks said.
