Bowen starts for Hornets as West nurses ankle injury

NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans All-Star forward David West missed his second straight game with a sore left ankle when the Hornets hosted the New Jersey Nets on Friday night.

West rolled his ankle during the second half of the Hornets' victory over the New York Knicks on Monday night. He remained in the game after the injury, but missed Wednesday night's victory over Atlanta.

Hornets coach Byron Scott said he is unsure whether West would play Saturday night in Houston.

West's absence left the Hornets without one of their primary scorers and rebounders. West averages 19.7 points and nine rebounds per game.

Ryan Bowen replaced West in the starting lineup.
