Source: LeBron can wear No. 6 for Heat
LeBron James will have the uniform No. 6 available to him in Miami after all, a source told ESPN.com on Friday.
Before becoming an instant pariah in Cleveland with his announcement that he would be joining Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, James disclosed last season that he planned to switch his jersey number from 23 to 6 for the 2010-11 season as a tribute to Michael Jordan.
And although Miami guard Mario Chalmers wore No. 6 last season, a league source told ESPN.com that Chalmers has already submitted a request to the league office to switch his jersey to No. 15 for next season.
No. 23 would not have been available to James in Miami, as the Heat have retired that number in honor of Jordan.
