NBA average ticket price: $48 per game

NEW YORK -- NBA ticket prices have fallen for the second straight season.

Below are the top five average ticket prices for NBA teams, according to the annual Team Marketing Report survey. The average ticket price represents a weighted average of season ticket prices for general seating categories, determined by factoring the tickets in each price range as a percentage of the total number of seats in each stadium. Premium seating and luxury suites are excluded.

The sports business outlet Team Marketing Report said Wednesday the average price of a nonpremium seat dropped 2.5 percent to $48. That followed a 2.8 percent decrease last season.

The Los Angeles Lakers have the highest average at $95 following a 2.1 percent rise. The NBA champions are followed by New York at $89, Boston at $69 and Chicago at $64.

Memphis is last at $23 after a 3.9 percent drop, and Washington is at $25 after a 9.9 percent decrease.

Detroit dropped prices 10 percent to $43.

The Fan Cost Index, which takes into account the prices of four average-price tickets, two small draft beers, four small soft drinks, four regular-size hot dogs, parking for one car, two game programs and two least-expensive, adult-size adjustable caps, shows the Knicks with the most expensive night out at a game, with a cost of $506. The Lakers are second at $489, followed by Boston ($393), Miami ($380) and Chicago ($365).
