Anthony scored 31 points in the Nuggets' 129-125 loss.
Anthony sat out a loss in Boston and Friday's victory at Toronto, but worked out Saturday and decided he was ready to play after testing himself Sunday morning.
Coach George Karl said he would determine how long Anthony would play by the "pulse" of the game, noting that even before the knee injury Anthony had struggled a bit with an illness.
Anthony leads Denver with 22.8 points per game.
