Powe, 27, chose Memphis over the New York Knicks, New Orleans Hornets and Miami Heat. The Grizzlies are hoping the 6-foot-8 power forward, who is in his fifth season, can provide depth for their formidable front line as they fight for their first playoff spot since 2006.
Powe, a key reserve during the Boston Celtics' run to the 2008 NBA title, has been hampered by knee injuries the past two years. He played in only 14 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season before recently being bought out of his contract.

Leon Powe will sign with the Grizzlies, according to league sources.
