Dwight Howard's tech upheld by league
Let's Get Technical
Amass enough technicals during the NBA season and you'll get suspended. But naughty words and bad behavior get more expensive in the playoffs:
|1, 2||$1,000 fine|
|3, 4||$1,500 fine|
|5, 6||$2,000 fine|
|7||$2,500 fine, one-game suspension|
|Each T after the seventh carries a $2,500 fine. Every other technical after that (9th, 11th, etc.) is another one-game suspension.|
NEW YORK -- Dwight Howard's latest technical foul has been upheld by the NBA after a review, leaving Orlando's All-Star center one away from another suspension.
Howard was called for his league-leading 17th technical Monday with 1:17 left in the Magic's 113-106 loss at New York. After fouling out while going for an offensive rebound, Howard tossed the ball into the backcourt.
Orlando players said that would usually warrant a delay of game warning and Howard said he would try to get it rescinded, but an NBA spokesman said Tuesday the appeal was denied.
Howard already served a one-game suspension once he accumulated his 16th tech. Players are then suspended another game for every other technical received after that.
