LAS VEGAS -- The Dallas Mavericks (1-4) earned their first victory of the 2009 NBA Summer League presented by EA SPORTS on Saturday as they defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 73-54. The Thunder concluded their summer league schedule 0-5.
Rodrigue Beaubois tallied a game high 23 points for the Mavericks while Shan Foster chipped in 14. The Thunder were led by James Harden with 11.
"I think I played a couple of good games, but I wasn't really consistent," said Beaubois of his time in Las Vegas. "I played a few good games but a couple bad ones, too. I need to work on being more consistent in my game, but I try to do what I can do out there -- just go out and play my game."
In the opening quarter of play the Mavericks jumped out to a quick 10-0 run and led by as many as 15 in the quarter and took a 13 point lead, 24-11, heading into the second quarter. Shan Foster led the Mavs with 10 points in the quarter while the Thunder were led by Harden with four points.
The Thunder bounced back in the second quarter cutting the Mavericks lead to six and were down by eight, 39-31, at the half.
Dallas continued their dominance through the second half building their lead to as many as 24 holding the Thunder to just 23 points in the half.
