J.J. Hickson helped guide the Cleveland Cavaliers (2-0) to their second win in the 2010 NBA Summer League with their 93-82 victory over the Phoenix Suns (1-3) on Wednesday .
Hickson had a game-high 34 points on 12-of-19 shooting, while getting 10 points from the charity stripe.
Cleveland scored eight straight points in the middle stages of the second quarter to break a 31-31 tie and take hold of the contest. The 8-0 effort was the catalyst of a much bigger run that stretched into the Cavaliers reeling off a 20-5 stretch in a span of 6:08 in the waning moments before intermission.
The Suns outscored the Cavaliers 26-22 in the third and pulled within five at 60-55 with 4:15 remaining in the quarter, but were unable to get any closer.
Joining Hickson in double figures were Danny Green, Christian Eyenga and Pooh Jeter. Green scored 14, while Eyenga and Jeter each had 13.
Hickson fell one rebound shy of achieving a double-double with his nine boards.
Matt Janning led the Suns in offense with his 22 points, 11 of which came in the first quarter.
Gani Lawal and Earl Clark hit double-digits in points, as well. Lawal chipped in 16 and added eight rebounds, while Clark had 13 points of his own.
Cleveland outshot Phoenix by a 53.5 percent (38-for-71) to 46.6 percent (34-for-73). The Cavaliers held a nine-point edge in free throws, as they connected on 17 in 24 attempts to the Suns eight makes in 14 tries.
In all, the game featured four lead changes and six ties. The Cavaliers led by as much as 15, while the Suns could only muster a one-point lead.
After playing to a two-point differential, 27-25, in the first quarter, the Cavaliers outscored the Suns by 10 in the second to hold a 51-39 halftime lead.
