LAS VEGAS --The Washington Wizards kept their perfect record in the 2010 NBA Summer League Summer League intact as Lester Hudson scored the game-winning basket at the buzzer to give the Wizards a 90-89 victory over the New Orleans Hornets who are now 0-4 in Summer League action.
JaVale McGee and John Wall combined for 60 points in Washington's offensive effort, Wall scoring a game-high 31 and McGee adding 29. The Hornets had five players in double-digits including a team high 23 points by Maurice Ager.
The Hornets led by as many as 16 in the game while the Wizards never led by more than eight.
The first half of play belonged to the Hornets who mounted a 16 point lead and took a commanding 49-36 lead at halftime. The Hornets opened the second quarter on a 15-0 run and held the Wizards to just seven points in the second period.
The Wizards' second-half surge was lead by Wall who single-handedly brought the team back scoring 14 points in Washington's 18-0 run during the third quarter. The Hornets were held to just 16 points in third.
The hard-fought fourth quarter featured eight lead changes and five ties as the two teams traded baskets for most of the quarter. With 2.2 seconds left in the game, the Hornets held a one-point lead after Craig Brackins sank a three-point shot, however with time running out the Wizards had the final say in the ballgame.
Both teams will play their final game of Summer League action on Saturday, July 17, the Wizards taking on the New York Knicks while the Hornets host the Raptors.
