Balanced Blazers top Kings

LAS VEGAS -- Four Trail Blazers scored in double-figures as Portland defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 67-60 in the final game of the night in COX Pavilion on the campus of UNLV.

Former University of Nevada-Reno standout Luke Babbitt led the Blazers with 16 points while Dante Cunningham added 14. Jeff Pendergraph pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds in the Blazers winning effort. Patrick O'Bryant led all scorers with 16 points for the Timberwolves while Deon Thompson chipped in 13.

Cunningham led the Portland Trail blazers to a 20-18 first-quarter lead scoring 10 points in the quarter. Both teams struggled in the second quarter scoring just 10 points apiece, the Timberwolves shooting just 20 percent in the quarter (3-15) while the Blazers shot just 15.7 percent (3-19)

The Blazers took control of the game in the third quarter as they outscored the Timberwolves 24-15 taking a seven point lead heading into the final stanza. Babbitt led the charge for the Blazers in the third scoring 11 points while Armon Johns added nine.

The Blazers slowly built their lead in the fourth quarter leading by as many as 11 in the final period and held of the Timberwolves in the final minutes of the game.

Both teams return to action on Sunday as the Blazers host the Chicago Bulls in the middle game of the day at COX Pavilion while the Timberwolves visit the Atlanta Hawks in the middle game of the day at Thomas and Mack.
