Babbitt, Mills lead Blazers by Bulls

LAS VEGAS -- The Portland Trail Blazers capped off the 2010 NBA Summer League with a record of 4-1 as they beat the Chicago Bulls 83-69 in their final game on Sunday. Chicago finished the summer league at 1-4.

The Trail Blazers had four players in double-figures including a game high 22 points by Luke Babbitt who was assisted by Patrick Mills who chipped in 18. Morris Almond led the Bulls off the bench with 22 points while Derrick Byars added 14.

Portland jumped out to a 12-4 lead early in the first quarter and finished the quarter up 25-15. The Blazers fired on all cylinders in the first connecting on 10-16 from the field (62.5 percent) while the Bulls struggled in hitting just 4-12 (33.3 percent). Mills led all scorers with seven points for the Blazers.

The Bulls went on a 7-0 run to open the second quarter and closed the gap between the two teams to three points however the Blazers answered with an 8-0 run of their own to maintain their lead, finishing the half up 42-33.

Chicago opened the third on an 11-5 run, knotting the game up at 47 before the Blazers went on a 14-6 run to close the third period of play. The Blazers third quarter effort was led by Babbitt who scored 10 points in the quarter on 4-4 from the field including two long-range three-point shots.

The Blazers continued to dominate the game as they built their lead to as many as 16 in the fourth quarter. Portland outscored Chicago 22-16 in the final 10 minutes of play.
