We asked our writers two questions:

Rank 1 to 5: Which players age 23 or under would you want as the foundation of your team?

Wild card: Who else has the greatest upside?

Here are ESPN The Magazine senior writer Chris Broussard's picks:

Broussard's Ballot
Rank Player Comment
LeBron James
Cleveland Cavaliers
Small Forward
Age: 23
Arguably the best player in the league already, and he's still got plenty of room for improvement
Dwight Howard
Orlando Magic
Age: 22
Already a dominant force and, like LeBron, he's just tapped the surface of his potential. As he matures, he'll develop the temperment he needs to lead a contender.
Chris Paul
New Orleans Hornets
Point Guard
Age: 22
This guy is Isiah Thomas and -- I can't believe I'm typing this -- he may one day be better.
Andrew Bynum
Los Angeles Lakers
Age: 20
I was tempted to put him ahead of Paul, but there's still an element of mystery surrounding him. I fully expect him to battle Howard for "league's top big man" status over the next decade.
Greg Oden
Portland Trail Blazers
Age: 20
A bit of a risk because of the injury and the fact that he hasn't played in a while, but it's a risk I'd take.
Deron Williams
Utah Jazz
Point Guard
Age: 23
He's proved at all levels that he makes teammates better … and wins!
