Nash to have nose examined Monday
Just as the shiner above and below his right eye was healing, Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash might have broken his nose after a fourth-quarter collision with Derek Fisher in Sunday's 118-109 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
"I don't think I broke it, I think I rearranged it," Nash joked. "Obviously there's a dent and it's bent. I think I whacked the cartilage out of place, but I tried to push it back into place so it's not as bent now, but it's still nicely curved."
Nash seemed to be in obvious discomfort during the fourth quarter. Television cameras captured him trying to readjust his nose on several occasions and muttering under his breath in frustration.
When asked whether Nash's nose was broken, Suns coach Alvin Gentry said, "Yes, I think so." Final word will come Monday after Nash's nose is examined by a specialist.
With Sunday's win, the Suns cut the Lakers' lead in the Western Conference finals to two games to one.
