Bench Scouting Report:
OVERALL:
Good team defense, strong rebounding and shot blocking. Offense runs through Tim Duncan plus Tony Parker penetrations. Inconsistent in clutch. Poor free throwers.

STARTERS:
Tim Duncan: Complete 7-0 player. Can post-up from either box. Drives both ways to hoop, finishes with either hand. Likes perimeter bank shot from left side. Strong boardman. Runs floor. Strong individual/team defender and shot blocker. Average free thrower and passer. Carries team.
David Robinson: Good individual/team defender in basket area. Effective rebounder/shot blocker. Limited offensive game but can finish at hoop on high-low plays with Duncan. Good passer. Average free thrower. Injury prone.
Bruce Bowen: Outstanding individual defender. Dangerous 3-point shooter. Limited in other phases of game and atrocious free thrower.
Tony Parker: Lightning quick on dribble penetrations. Good judgment passer. Adequate perimeter shooter. Average defender.
Stephen Jackson: Long (6-8), effective defender. Erratic shooter and ballhandler but makes big shots at crunch time.

BENCH:
Above average and versatile: F/C Malik Rose; strong veteran F/C Kevin Willis; swingman Manu Ginobili; point guard Speedy Claxton; veterans Steve Kerr and Steve Smith. Provide good mix of speed, strength, experience and youth.

Bench Scouting Report:
OVERALL:
Need resurgence of energy to get out of the East this year. Nets have had injuries and lackadaisical play that has kept them from last season's pace. Jason Kidd still is the main man. Team needs for others to match his intensity.

STARTERS:
Richard Jefferson: Quick, strong and athletic. Fulfilled hopes that he'd step up his game with increased minutes. Plays with high energy. A solid performer who should get better.
Kenyon Martin: Strong and physical, has matured as player, improving on both offense and defense. Better at emotional control.
Dikembe Mutombo: Injured wrist kept him out of action for most of the year. Very important to Nets' hopes in playoffs. Needs to get defensive focus on rebounding and shot-blocking to help Nets' running game and to score enough to keep defenses honest.
Jason Kidd: The best there is at generating offense. Has improved as a perimeter shooter. Great sense to break up opposing plays as team defender.
Kerry Kittles: Great floor runner. Has developed into good perimeter shooter, although somewhat erratic. Works hard on D.
BENCH:
Adequate. Lucious Harris and Aaron Williams are most reliable. Jason Collins, Anthony Johnson and Brian Scalabrine are improving. Rodney Rogers has disappointed, again.
