The Pistons have had no problems adjusting to the new system
under coach Flip Saunders, scoring a fourth-best 104 points a
game. Detroit is yielding only 89 points a game to remain one
of the best defensive teams in the league.
Richard Hamilton continued to be a beneficiary of the motion
offense by scoring 12 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter as
the Pistons rallied for a 111-104 win in Phoenix on Thursday.
Chauncey Billups scored 27 points, including a 3-pointer with 16
seconds left to seal the triumph that made Detroit 5-0 for the
first time since they started 9-0 in 1988.
Zach Randolph collected a season-high 29 points and 12 rebounds
to help Portland post a 95-83 win over New York on Wednesday.
In his last two games, Randolph is averaging 25 points and 12.5
The Pistons and Trail Blazers split their season series last
season, 1-1, with each team winning on the other's home floor.
