New Jersey (5-5) at Sacramento (4-7) 10:00 pm EST

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Nets might need some help from their bench Wednesday if Vince Carter can't play against the Sacramento Kings.

Carter scored nine points in 20 minutes Tuesday, shooting 4-of-6 from the field before leaving with a strained muscle in his back in the first half of New Jersey's 101-97 loss to Golden State.

A 6-6 swingman, Carter has been battling injuries the past couple of years. He has led the Nets in scoring six times this season en route to a team-best 20.7 points per game.

Nine-year veteran Jeff McInnis provided a spark off the bench Tuesday, collecting 21 points and six assists.

Richard Jefferson scored 23 points and second-year big man Nenad Krstic added 21 and 11 rebounds for New Jersey, which is 1-3 on the road this year.

The Kings, who are 3-3 at home, have injuries of their own as All-Star forward Peja Stojakovic sat out with a sprained finger in Monday's 96-93 loss to defending champion San Antonio.

Stojakovic's 21.5 points per contest lead Sacramento, which has lost its last two games. Starting point guard Mike Bibby has been red hot the two contests, scoring 25 and 33 points, respectively.

In the last meeting between the teams, Jason Kidd recorded a triple-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists as the Nets won, 96-85, in New Jersey on February 16.
