Rockets C Yao to sit out vs. Raptors with toe infection

Toronto (5-20) at Houston (10-13) 8:30 pm EST

HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Yao Ming's infected big toe has left a big hole in the middle of the Houston Rockets' lineup.

The Rockets once again will play without Yao on Wednesday when they host the Toronto Raptors.

Houston has won six of its last seven games, the latest victory coming Sunday in a 76-74 triumph over the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the Rockets had to pull it out without Yao, who is expected to miss at least a few games with a toe infection.

The 7-6 native of China is averaging 19.9 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks this season. On Sunday, veteran Dikembe Mutombo started in his place and had two points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

Tracy McGrady led the Rockets with 20 points, including the game-winning basket with three-tenths of a second remaining.

David Wesley added 18 points and rookie Luther Head chipped in 16 for Houston, which also played without Jon Barry (calf), Bob Sura (back), Derek Anderson (knee) and Rafer Alston (leg).

Toronto improved to 4-8 on the road with Monday's 92-90 triumph in Orlando. Morris Peterson scored 19 points, including the clinching 3-pointer with eight seconds remaining.

Chris Bosh added 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Raptors, who had five players in double figures and shot 9-of-16 from the arc.

The Rockets have won five straight home meetings with the Raptors, who have not won here since December 28, 1999.
