SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Tim Duncan's accurate shooting touch helped the San Antonio Spurs avoid their first three-game losing streak of the season.

     Tim Duncan

Duncan scored a season-high 37 points on 14-of-18 shooting as the Spurs beat the Golden State Warriors for the 11th straight time, 98-95 Friday night.

"I'm feeling pretty good shooting the ball, feeling pretty confident. I was able to hit a couple of shots," Duncan said jokingly.

The Spurs, who improved to 14-3 at home, returned from an East Coast road trip on which they lost their last two games and three of four -- all against sub-.500 teams.

"We needed a win and we got it," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. "Wins are always good."

Antawn Jamison scored 37 points to lead the Warriors, who were seeking their first four-game winning streak in three years. He was the only Golden State player to reach double figures.

Duncan, who has led the Spurs in scoring for 13 straight games, also had nine rebounds and four assists.

"We double on Tim, he found the open man. Its hard to put in words, to describe Tim," Jamison said.

The game was close the whole way, with 14 lead changes and 15 ties, but the Spurs went on a 15-4 fourth-quarter run to take a 90-84 lead with 3:08 left. Duncan scored 12 points during the burst.

"It's extremely tough to keep even in a ballgame with the way Tim shot 14-18 from the field," Warriors coach Eric Musselman said. "I'm pleased with the performance, but we're definitely going to have to just take advantage of it if we're put in that situation again."

Danny Ferry hit the second of two free throws with 17 seconds left to give the Spurs a 98-93 lead. The Warriors had a chance to tie at the end, but Jason Richardson's 3-point shot bounced of the side of the backboard as the horn sounded.

Tony Parker added 22 points and six assists for the Spurs.

Jamison scored 12 points in the third quarter, and Golden State led 70-67 at the end of the period. Duncan picked up his fourth foul with 4:03 left in the quarter, and he didn't return until the fourth.

Golden State lost despite having a 50-32 rebounding advantage.

"They always rebound well against us," Duncan said. "They rebound well against everyone. That's a big part of what keeps them in games."

The Spurs built an 11-point second-quarter lead behind Duncan's 20 first-half points, but the Warriors came back to tie it at 40-40. The Spurs led only 46-44 at halftime.
