EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Paul Pierce scored 30 points, had 10 rebounds and made all 18 free-throws Friday night to lead Boston Celtics to their first preseason win, 95-90 over the New Jersey Nets.

Antoine Walker had 19, Mike James 13 and Marcus Banks 11 for the Celtics (1-4).

Kenyon Martin had 15 for the Nets, who had their first loss after three preseason wins. Jason Kidd, seeing his first exhibition action, scored 13 points and had eight assists. Kerry Kittles and Rodney Rogers each scored 11. Alonzo Mourning had 10 rebounds to go along with eight points.

Boston shot only 34 percent from the field but the Celtics hit 35 of 42 from the free-throw line and were especially effective in the fourth quarter.

Boston went on a 20-2 run to take an 88-77 lead with 3:42 remaining. Pierce paced the run with 10 points and all but two came on free throws. Walker contributed five points with a layup and 3-pointer from 31 feet out.
