Golden State's new coach chalks up first win

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Mike Dunleavy scored 17 points and the Golden State Warriors opened the preseason for new coach Mike Montgomery with a 97-79 victory against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.

Troy Murphy scored 15 points, and Jason Richardson had 13 points and nine rebounds for Golden State. Derek Fisher, who signed with the Warriors as a free agent after eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, scored 12 points. Dale Davis added seven points and 12 rebounds.

Peja Stojakovic led the Kings with 18 points in 23 minutes. He was the only Sacramento player in double figures. The Kings shot 31 percent from the field and never led.

Sacramento forward Chris Webber missed the game because of a sore knee that kept him out of several recent practices.

Adonal Foyle and Eduardo Najera missed the game with minor injuries for the Warriors.

The Kings departed for China after the game. They will play the Houston Rockets twice, Thursday in Shanghai and Sunday in Beijing.
