ATLANTA (AP) -- Dwight Howard had 15 points and seven rebounds
and DeShawn Stevenson added 15 points and six rebounds to lead the
Orlando Magic to a 104-93 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday
night in the preseason opener for both teams.
Hill, coming off a relatively healthy 2004-05 season in which he
averaged 19.7 points in 67 games, played 23 minutes.
Joe Johnson and Zaza Pachulia had 18 points each for the Hawks.
Johnson had seven rebounds and seven assists in his first
appearance in front of the home crowd. It was his signing over the
summer that led to the buying out of Steve Belkin by the other
owners. Belkin opposed Johnson's sign-and-trade deal from Phoenix.
Josh Smith, last year's slam dunk champion, scored 13 points for
the Hawks, while Marvin Williams, the second overall pick in the
2005 NBA draft, scored 12 points. He was called for five personal
fouls in 25 minutes.
