Atlanta guard Joe Johnson added 20 points, including a 3-pointer
as the shot clock expired with 1:16 left to play that gave the
Hawks a 108-99 lead.
Forward Gerald Wallace led the Bobcats with 22 points on 9-of-15
shooting. Wallace scored 16 first-half points but was limited to
two points in the final quarter. Rookie Raymond Felton added 20
points for Charlotte, going 8-for-11 from the field.
The Bobcats trailed by seven with 3:32 left in the third, but
used a 16-8 run to take an 86-85 lead with 10:49 left in the game.
It was the Bobcats' first lead since the 1:25 mark of the first
quarter. Atlanta took the lead for good on a Johnson jump shot with
The Hawks used a 12-2 spurt to start the second quarter and take
a 41-31 lead with 7:34 left in the first half. Johnson's basket at
the 6:02 mark of the second quarter extended Atlanta's lead to
Wallace scored six points in the final six minutes of the second
quarter to help trim Atlanta's lead to 53-49 at the half.
