Garnett, Griffin set pace as Wolves run past Bulls

CHICAGO (AP) -- Kevin Garnett scored 16 points and Eddie Griffin added 15 to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 97-89 exhibition victory over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night.

Garnett had 10 rebounds and shot 7-for-12 from the field.

Minnesota (1-3) led by as many as 14 points, but Chicago was able to cut it to 86-82 on Andres Nocioni's jumper with 1:54 left in the game. Nikoloz Tskitishvili and rookie Rashad McCants hit 3-pointers to give Minnesota a 92-84 lead with 54.1 seconds left.

Kirk Hinrich scored 16 of his 19 points in the third quarter for the Bulls. Nocioni, Ben Gordon and Othella Harrington all had 10 points for Chicago (1-3).

Richie Frahm scored 12 for the Timberwolves and Anthony Carter added 10.

Wally Szczerbiak (sprained right foot), Troy Hudson (hip pointer) and Marko Jaric (sprained right ankle) missed the game for the Timberwolves.

Chicago played without Tim Thomas and Malik Allen. Thomas was out with a sprained left ankle and Allen sat out with a strained left hamstring.
