Frye's 19 points, 8 boards help New York's winning cause

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Rookie Channing Frye broke out against
the defending NBA champions.

Frye scored 19 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had a big
basket in the final minute as the New York Knicks posted a 96-90
preseason victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

With 52 seconds remaining, the 7-foot Frye, the eighth overall
pick in June's draft, snapped an 88-88 tie with a rebound and
dunk, finishing an 8-of-14 effort from the floor.

After Brent Barry hit a pair of free throws on the other end to
tie it, Jamal Crawford buried a jumper to give New York the lead
for good, 92-90. San Antonio's Tony Parker, who scored 21
points, committed a turnover and Crawford hit two free throws
with 14 seconds left.

Sean Marks missed a 3-pointer with 10 seconds to go and Nate
Robinson's two free throws sealed the win.

Crawford scored 13 points and Jackie Butler added 12 for New
York, which had lost three straight.

Michael Finley scored 15 points in 22 minutes for San Antonio,
which also got 10 points from Argentine rookie Fabricio Roberto.
