SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Austin Croshere scored 16 points and rookie
Sarunas Jasikevicius added 14 as the Indiana Pacers beat San
Antonio 97-86 on Tuesday night, the Spurs' seventh loss in eight
NBA exhibition games.
The Pacers led by as many as 21 points midway through the third
quarter before defending champion San Antonio went on a 22-7 run to
make it 77-71 going into the fourth.
The Spurs trailed 84-77 with about six minutes remaining before
Anthony Johnson hit a jumper for Indiana and Fred Jones followed
with a 3-pointer to rebuild the Pacers' lead to double figures.
Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson each scored 12 points for
Tim Duncan led San Antonio with 29 points, 21 in the first half,
and 10 rebounds. Rookie Fabricio Oberto scored 10 points for the
Spurs on 5-for-6 shooting.
Duncan made his first five shots and accounted for 15 of San
Antonio's first 19 points.
Indiana trailed 33-27 after a tip-in by Duncan with about nine
minutes left in the half, but the Pacers then went on a 14-2 run
led by three 3-pointers by Jasikevicius.
The Pacers made 11 of 15 shots in the second quarter, including
all five 3-point attempts. After Duncan's tip-in, San Antonio
managed only three more field goals in the half.
