Gasol gets Grizzlies by Hawks in sloppy game

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Pau Gasol scored 22 points and grabbed
nine rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies past the Atlanta Hawks
99-84 on Thursday night in McKenzie Arena.

Rookie Salim Stoudamire led the Hawks with 13 points. John
Edwards scored 12, and Joe Johnson added 10 for the Hawks. Lorenzen
Wright added 10 points for Memphis.

Both teams struggled with their shooting as the Grizzlies sank
41.6 percent of their field goal attempts and went 5-for-19 on

Atlanta went 0-for-8 from 3-point range in the first half.

Memphis led 51-42 at halftime, powered by 14 points and seven
rebounds by Gasol, who sat on the bench throughout the fourth
quarter with a towel wrapped around his neck.

Josh Childress scored eight in first half for Atlanta but did
not score in the second half.
