Turkoglu gets 30 as Magic win seventh straight at home

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- All of a sudden, the Orlando Magic are unbeatable at home.

Orlando limited Phoenix, the NBA's highest-scoring team, to two points in the final 4:48 of the game, allowing the Magic to pull away to a 111-102 victory.

It was the seventh straight home victory for Orlando, which started the season 5-9 on its court. Hedo Turkoglu led the Magic with 30 points -- including 10 in the final 6:12 when Orlando broke a 95-95 tie.

Dwight Howard added 22 points and 12 rebounds while Steve Francis had 15 points, six assists and six rebounds as Orlando notched its fourth straight win overall, tying a season high. Keyon Dooling, playing for the first time after a five-game suspension for fighting, had 10 points off the bench.

"Home wins are huge, no doubt about it," Magic coach Brian Hill said. "We got excellent contributions from everybody at some point in the game and I was obviously pleased with our defense at the end. Phoenix is a tough team to defend."

Turkoglu, who is averaging 25.3 points in his last three games after scoring 12.1 in the first 36, credited teammates for his performance. He hit 12 of 17 shots and put the Suns away with a mixture of jumpers and driving layups in the final 6 minutes.

"I was feeling good, but it was teamwork that made it happen tonight," Turkoglu said. "We helped each other all night. We executed well, we knew who was hot, we just put it all together."

Phoenix, coming off a 152-149 double-overtime loss against Seattle two nights earlier, looked lethargic much of the game, especially on defense. The Suns allowed Orlando to shoot 55 percent from the floor and sent the Magic to the free throw line 33 times. Phoenix shot 46 percent and took only 18 free throws.

"We aren't playing any defense at all right now," said Suns forward Shawn Marion, who led his team with 26 points and 16 rebounds. "It seems like we exert all our energy on offense and exert no energy on defense."

"That started in the first quarter, but it actually goes back to the Seattle game," Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni said. "I don't know if we think we can slug it out with people offensively or what, but we just can't do that. We have to get back to some hard-nosed basketball and we're going to do that."

Steve Nash finished with 22 points and 12 assists for Phoenix. His layup with 10 seconds left in the game were the only points the Suns scored in the final 4:48.

Pat Garrity hit four of five shots in the second quarter, capped by a 3-pointer with 1:40 left to help the Magic build a 55-45 lead -- their biggest of the game.

Raja Bell countered with a 3 at the other end and Phoenix went on to cut its deficit to 58-53 at the half.

The Suns cut the Magic's lead to 84-83 by the end of the third quarter and took the lead for the first time since early in the game, 91-90 on a layup by Leandro Barbosa with 8:31 left in the fourth.

Orlando regained the advantage on rookie Travis Diener's second 3 of the game, for a 95-93 lead with 6:48 to play. That set the stage for Turkoglu's offense and the Magic's defense to finish off the game.

Game notes

Magic PG Jameer Nelson missed his second straight game with a sprained foot. ... Turkoglu is shooting 26-for-49 (53 percent) from the field the last three games. ... Nash, who missed only 10 free throws all season, missed three of five against Orlando. ... Marion had his ninth straight game with at least 20 points. ... Phoenix started a six-game, eight-day trip.
