Memphis 92, Detroit 82

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Rookie Rudy Gay led a balanced attack
with 16 points and Dahntay Jones added 15 points and nine rebounds
as the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Detroit Pistons 92-82 Wednesday
in the final preseason game for both teams.

Hakim Warrick added 13 for Memphis, which had five players in
double figures.

The Grizzlies (4-4) open the regular season next Wednesday
against the Knicks, while the Pistons (5-3) host the Bucks the same

Richard Hamilton led the Pistons with 15 points, while Jason
Maxiell had 14 and Chauncey Billups and Flip Murray scored 13 each.
Tayshaun Prince and Rasheed Wallace each played less than 20

Detroit's top reserves didn't help much, as Antonio McDyess,
Lindsey Hunter and Carlos Delfino missed all 17 of their field-goal
attempts. The trio combined for two points in 56 minutes.

The Pistons led 48-44 at the half, thanks to 19 first-half
points from Hamilton and Billups, but didn't show much interest in
the third quarter.

Detroit still had a 55-50 advantage early in the period, but
Memphis took over the game with a 19-4 run.

The Grizzlies finished the quarter with a 71-64 edge, helped by
nine points from Gay, and built the lead to a dozen in the opening
minutes of the fourth period.
