Breaking down the Rockets' final play

Antonio Davis isn't blaming James Harden's decision-making on the final play of Game 2: "In the flow of the game, I don't know if there was a time that he could have called a timeout. ... I'm okay with this play in a lot of different ways."

Should DeMarre Carroll play on bad knee?

Brian Windhorst said the Hawks forward shouldn't risk further injury in Game 2 while on the verge of a big contract: "Now he’s in a situation where his knee is weakened ... and I just don’t know if it’s responsible for him and his family to try to go in this situation." (via Mike & Mike)

Kerr shining in playoff coaching debut

Steve Kerr is off to a 10-2 start in his NBA playoff coaching career, which is 1 shy of the best start ever by a coach in his first dozen playoff games. The only coach with a better start was Pat Riley, who was 11-1 in 1982 with the Lakers. The Lakers would go on to win the NBA title. (via Elias)

Cavs-Hawks play Game 2 tonight

The Hawks desperately need a win, as LeBron James has been up 2-0 in a best-of-seven series 14 times in his career -- and has won all 14 of those series. The only time it even went 7 games was in the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals, when the Heat beat the Celtics en route to James' first career NBA title.

Warriors stay big in Game 2

Despite being outscored by 8 points in Game 1 with a traditional lineup, Golden State kept at least two big men on the floor for Game 2 for 71% of their plays. The Dubs shot 17% better from the floor than they did in Game 1 with the conventional lineup.

Houston's deep threat held in check

The Rockets broke a single-season record by attempting 32.7 three-pointers per game this season. But Houston has six games this season with 23 or fewer 3-point attempts -- three have come against the Warriors including Game 1 and 2.
