WEEK RECORD RANK COMMENT
Week 4 8-6 11 The forthcoming docket for the gutty little Rockets: Dallas at home Wednesday, San Antonio at home Friday and then a trip to Oklahoma City on Sunday. A week doesn't get more Southwestern-y than that.
Week 3 6-4 11 You watch the Rockets win on the Lakers' floor and you hear that they've scored 100 points or more in nine straight games for the first time since 1995-96 and you understand why there's hesitation to rush T-Mac back.
Week 2 4-2 12 Still trying to pinpoint exactly what this team's ceiling is without Yao and T-Mac, but it already seems safe to say that the gutty little Rockets will spend all season right at the top of the list of teams no one wants to play.
Week 1 2-1 17 That they've won twice already shouldn't surprise you. You knew going in about the gutty little Rockets, no matter who's in the lineup. The shocker, if you're looking for one, is Ariza averaging 29.0 ppg in those wins.
Preseason 53-29 20 Can the gutty little Rockets hang around No. 8 long enough for T-Mac to come back and drag them into the playoffs? Probably not ... but they won't fall as far in the West as teams like OKC and Memphis are hoping.
Training Camp 53-29 22 The Rockets have been so scrappy without Yao or T-Mac (or both) that you hesitate to dismiss them in the race for No. 8. Dismissing them is not nearly as foolish (on both sides) as the Ariza-Lakers divorce, but risky.
