Parker returns to Tulsa for senior season
Associated Press

TULSA, Okla. -- University of Tulsa basketball player Jason Parker will return for his senior season after testing his "marketability" in the NBA draft.

Parker said he sent a letter Monday to NBA officials taking himself out of draft consideration. He did not hire an agent and thus retained his amateur status.

Parker led Tulsa as a junior last season in scoring, assists and steals. He averaged 15.4 points as Tulsa advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

By making himself eligible for the draft, Parker said he made good contacts and learned how to promote himself for a possible NBA career. He decided to withdraw when he became convinced he would not be a first-round pick.

"If we can continue to get scouts to look at us and at least have our names out there, at least we will get our shot," he said.
