| 2005 Draft Picks - Denver Nuggets |
| RD | PK(OVR) | NAME | POS | SCHOOL/COUNTRY |
| 1 | 20(20) | Julius Hodge | SG | NC State |
It's an interesting pick for Denver. I'm a big Hodge fan. He is a tough player who can play multiple positions. He can even play some point guard in the pros. He has a swagger and is a winner. However, what the Nuggets needed was a shooter and that Hodge is not. I'm a little surprised they passed on Francisco Garcia here. Garcia is the same size, but he's a much better shooter.

| 1 | 22(22) | Jarrett Jack | PG | Georgia Tech |
Update: Denver traded the rights to G Jarrett Jack (No. 22) to the
Portland Trail Blazers for the rights to F Linas Kleiza (No. 27)
and F Ricky Sanchez (No. 35). Obviously this signals that the Blazers aren't totally comfortable having Sebastian Telfair run the show next year. Jack is quite a bit different from Telfair. He is a big point guard with great strength and a good jump shot. He's turnover prone, but he has a ton of talent.

| 2 | 22(52) | Axel Hervelle | PF | Spain |
The Nuggets spent a lot of time overseas and know what they're doing. Hervelle is considered one of the best rebounders in Europe. He's long, athletic and relentless on the boards. His defense is way ahead of his offense at this point, but in a few years he could be another Anderson Varejao type of energy player in the paint.
