| 2005 Draft Picks - Utah Jazz |
| RD | PK(OVR) | NAME | POS | SCHOOL/COUNTRY |
| 1 | 3(3) | Deron Williams | PG | Illinois |
The Jazz made a smart move by trading up for Deron Williams. They weren't going to be able to get a point guard they really wanted at No. 6 and, in the grand scheme of things, didn't give up too much to get up here. I believe that Chris Paul is a better prospect, but Williams might be a better fit in Jerry Sloan's system. He is bigger, plays better defense and can thrive in the half-court set. Great move for the Jazz.

| 2 | 4(34) | C. J. Miles | SG | Skyline HS (TX) |
Interesting pick for the Jazz. He does just about everything well but nothing great. That's normally not a good recipe for a high school player coming out. Still he went ahead of several more highly ranked high school prospects like Andray Blatche, Monta Ellis and Louis Williams. Miles hasn't signed with an agent so he could choose to go back to college (University of Texas) if he wanted to.

| 2 | 21(51) | Robert Whaley | C | Walsh |
Whaley shocked everyone at the Chicago pre-draft camp. He got himself into shape and was a beast in the paint. He's an undersized center, but he's very tough and he creates great space in the paint.
