Strasburg takes first loss

IRVINE, Calif. -- Virginia was expecting to face Stephen Strasburg in its NCAA regional game against San Diego State. So coach Brian O'Connor had his team turn up the speed on the pitching machine.

The strategy worked and the Cavaliers did something no one else could do against the Aztecs' ace this season: win.

Strasburg lost for the first time as Robert Morey pitched six shutout innings and Steven Proscia hit a two-run homer in Virginia's 5-1 victory Friday night.
